For a measuring insert with a Pt100 resistance sensor, the temperature-sensitive sensor element is made from platinum RTD whose value at 0¡æ/ +32¡ãF is 100 ¦¸. The electrical resistance of metals increases according to a mathematical function as the temperature rises. This effect is used with resistance thermometers to measure the temperature: a constant current I flows through the Pt100 RTD, creating a voltage drop U. The resistance ¡°R¡± follows Ohm¡¯s Law: R = U / I and corresponds to a specific temperature. The temperature dependency is repeatable and is standardised in a characteristic curve. Very simply put, think of the thermocouple as a battery whose voltage increases with the temperature. The temperature, dependent on the thermovoltage, is standardised and can thus be precisely determined |

The OPTITEMP temperature assembly is available with or without thermowell, usually attached with a compression fitting. It's an all-purpose device since the decision as to the required insertion depth is only necessary immediately prior to installation. |

Hygienic Temperature Assemblies |
Hygienic thermometers are manufactured with stainless steel thermowells or an outer sheath and provided with various process connections. Thermometers with an outer sheath diameter of 6 mm do not provide a replaceable measuring insert. |
